Emma's 6th Birthday! Octonauts Theme!

Before I go into Emma's birthday party (that she had been planning for at least 9 months- no joke!), my favorite thing we did on Emma's birthday was visiting the NICU where she was born- Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. And a fun thing is that Aunt Boose now works at that same NICU and she was working the night we visited. Emma was so excited to see where she was born. We talked about how little she was and how she had to grow and get healthy before she could come home. We also donated some preemie clothes to the hospital and she really loved that. Afterwards, we went out for ice cream and to a toy store for her to pick out a toy with her own birthday money from Grandpa Gene.

Now on to the party :). After Emma went to her cousin Ashur's Octonauts themed birthday party the December before, she decided she wanted the exact same thing for her 6th birthday party. She had lots of things in mind which included her and I making lots of decorations together for it. Emma is very into making crafts and creating so we started a month early so she could fee like she made everything but it wouldn't be too much on me at the last minute. We cut out sea creatures and bubbles and put them all over the basement. We also taped up seaweed (green crape paper) in the basement and upstairs and made some jelly fish to hang. It turned out super cute and she loved it…that's really all that matters.

We colored Octonauts pictures while we waited for everyone to come. Then we played several games: fishing game, snowball toss, pin the patch on Kwazi, and find Peso. Then we ate pizza and ice cream (she doesn't like cake so we made it clear she just wanted ice cream cones), opened up presents and then watched an episode of Octonauts until parent's came to get the kids. It was fun and Emma LOVES friends and being social. I had to stop her invitation list before it got out of control.
