After Penny had passed away we had a neighbor contact us and ask if we wanted a 2 1/2 year old mini Irish doodle. Her daughter was going to be moving from state to state for the next while and knew they wanted more room and attention for their dog. Her name is Denver and she will be 3 on December 3rd. Denver was definitely used to a different way of life. The previous owners lived in New York City and Denver was their baby. She was treated just like a human- slept on their bed, lived on their couches, and never learned a lot of things like how to ask to go potty or how to come since she lived in an apartment in NYC. So she came to our house and she's had to get used to a whole lot more rules and tricks :). The first 2 days she was outside for 6-7 hours straight barking at the bunnies and trying to dig in to get them. She was completely obsessed with these furry creatures and had a lot of anxiety. Then there was the whole getting up to our counters and on top of our kitchen table and eating whatever she could find. Then there was the chewing up dirty diapers and toilet paper and spreading them around the home :(. It took about a month for her to realize she was not sleeping on our beds or laying on our couches. I thought it would be a lot better than having a puppy...but it's been just as hard! Lately her favorite thing is getting out the door and running away to explore the neighborhood. Denver is slowly learning and Reese is our dog lover who has kept us going through the difficult times.
